Quick Diet Update and How I Fix Smudged Eyes

All right so tonight I was at an event where there was pizza and I ate a slice along with some pesto pasta and sweet tea. Honestly I wish I hadn't broken my diet like that. When you just eat one single slice of pizza, it only temps you and makes me want more. One slice of pizza is such a tease. My advice is to STICK TO YOUR DIETS unless you are really going to splurge one day. Don't just torture yourself with random little bites of stuff like I did tonight:/

Now for my favorite lazy makeup trick: when your eyeliner/mascara causes that smudgy look under your eyes ((I'm talking about small smudges not raccoon eyes) and you don't have makeup wipes handy, just dab concealer over the smudges! I did this tonight really quickly under my eyes before I left tonight and it looks fine.

My Diet of the Week

This week I am basically on the Atkins diet LOL. I am avoiding all carbs and sugar, but I'm letting myself have as much protein and meat as I want. Restricting myself just in one area (carbs) is so much easier than trying to be super healthy with every food group. Although I know this plan can't go on indefinitely because it just wouldn't be healthy, I think it's a great thing to do temporarily when trying to drop a few pounds.

Today for breakfast I had a couple of bacon slices along with scrambled egg whites cooked in butter. Allowing myself to splurge on the bacon and butter made it so much easier not to reach for a cinnamon roll or a biscuit. For lunch I had a hamburger with cheddar cheese (no bun) and some fruit (I don't think fruit is allowed on the Atkins diet but whatever.)

I will be doing this diet until the week of thanksgiving, and I definitely recommend it to everyone looking for a temporary weight loss plan!

Cheats: I did eat some Milano cookies I had bought from Kroger prior to starting the diet because I didn't want them to go bad. I also ate some ice cream in a cone yesterday, and three chocolate cookies today, but those are the only carbs I've eaten all week! No potatoes, no bread, or anything else!:) After thanksgiving is over I will be starting a new diet which I will stay on probably until Christmas, so I'll post all about that in a couple of weeks!

MAC Eyeshadows Obsession and Pan/Pot Explanation

For Christmas I will be asking for some MAC eyeshadows in the refill pans-I'm going to start my own palette. I think starting your own palette is a MUCH better idea than buying the individual pots of eyeshadow because the pans you will be buying are $3 cheaper than buying eyeshadow in a pot. Saving $3 every time you buy a color can save you a lot of money! All you have to do is buy one of MAC's palettes (or you can use your own but the MAC ones will be sure to fit the shadow pans perfectly) and start filling it up! Even when my palette gets full I will probably only buy pans of eyeshadow because I just can't justify spending more money for the same amount of product! Of course special edition colors can only be bought potted, so I will still buy those when there's a color I like.

I am so excited to start my collection of MAC eyeshadows because I think quality in an eyeshadow is SO important. It's really hard to find eyeshadows that are pigmented, apply smoothly, and last a long time.

Which Hair Straightener Works Best?

I have very thick, curly/wavy hair. As a little kid I had big, loopy ringlets which have now turned to coarse, frizzy waves/kinks. My hair can't be styled without first being straightened, so I use my flatiron religiously.

I have used a CHI for the past 3-4 years and to be honest I feel that CHI is a bit overrated. I have enjoyed my CHI while I have had it, but I have realized there are cheaper brands out there that can actually do a better job. It might be partially because I've had it for so long and it's wearing out, but I feel that my CHI does not get sufficiently hot (mine has gold plates and no adjustable heat settings.)

Recently I have tried out a Remington (I'm not sure of the name but it's about 1" with blue plates) and I love it! It does a bunch better job than my CHI and makes the hair much flatter. It can be set all the way up to 435 degrees but 410 is enough for my hair. The Remington is also relatively cheap compared to brand like GHD and CHI so it's surprising that it works so well.

I have only had a GHD used on me once quite awhile ago, and I actually don't remember what the results were like. I would love to try this brand again because I've heard from lots of girls that it's the best but it's soooo expensive.

For now I am loving the Remington and planning to get my own soon!

Revlon CustomEyes Palette Review

The other day I bought the Revlon CustomEyes eyeshadow palette in the colors "Sweet Innocence" for about $7 at Target. I have to say that I wasted my money:( This stuff is horrible.

I chose this palette because I wanted something a little tamer than the super shimmery eyeshadow I normally wear. The CustomEyes is not completely matte, but its shimmer is very muted. However, the problem with this stuff is that it has almost NO pigmentation. Like none. And when you try to blend it, it rubs away and DISAPPEARS.

It is also has a very chalky, powdery texture. It basically does nothing other than looking like a powdery mess on your eyes for a few seconds and then rubbing away and disappearing. Such a waste:(

This horrible eyeshadow reminded me why I feel that eyeshadows are one of those things where a high end  brand can make a huge difference. It's definitely worth investing.

All right, so I was writing my gymnastics blog every day during the olympics and I will still be posting there sometimes, but now that gymnastics is dead I wanted to start a new blog posting reviews about beauty products like makeup and things.
